Today’s Giveaway:
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer in “Sand”
The Story:
If I had known at age 12 that I would be using a Laura Mercier brow pencil to fill in my sparse brows at age 26, I would have said to my 12-year-old self,
“Back away from the tweezers. I repeat, back away from the tweezers.”
I sprouted a lot of brow hair when I was young (my mother says it is the Hungarian in me), so I absolutely freaked out when I started to develop the dreaded “unibrow.” I thought my only way to normalcy was to pluck my brows into oblivion.
Actually, it wasn’t me who did it – it was my mom. Even though she was against the idea, I pleaded and begged her until she finally said yes. I remember one night, lying in bed, with her hovering over me, plucking away. She had been plucking from a young age too, so I figured she would be the best candidate for helping me develop the perfect thin, arched brow shape.
Eventually, I started doing it on my own. Looking back at photos from my teen years, I went back and forth between extremely over-plucked and semi-normal (during times of laziness).
Fast forward to a few years ago. I was at the spa getting a facial, and in the same way my mother so carefully leaned over and plucked my thick brows, the esthetician leaned over me and said,
“Have you ever thought about growing your brows out? They would look so nice.”
I told her I would try. What did I have to lose? At that point, my brows were so thin that they were only a few hairs wide. Even so, I figured it would be a quick-and-easy process – a few months, tops.
A few years later, I can tell you that growing out my brows has been one of the hardest things I have ever done.
Okay, that is a complete lie, but it has been one big pain in the butt. Only some hairs have grown back, and they take painfully long to come in. My tweezers only get dusted off occasionally, and there is fear in my heart every time I take them to a hair.
Thank goodness for my Laura Mercier brow pencil. I have tried many, but it is the only one that looks almost completely natural. I wish I had plush brows that didn’t require filling in, but I am certain that won’t happen in my lifetime.
Today’s giveaway is for a sample tinted moisturizer I received with my latest brow pencil purchase. Too bad they didn’t include an eye brow transplant – now that I could have used.

Ha! Well, yes, I think I have overplucked. I've never had the unibrow, but I do have darker eyebrows that can get overgrown if I don't keep them tidy. I think when I first went to town I had them much thinner than necessary, enough so that people noticed the difference. I believe I remember a few people actually teased me about it. You gotta love high schoolers! I love the idea of this blog, by the way!

I've never over plucked because my eyebrows are so light you can't see them anyway! If I don't use eyebrow pencil I look like an albino.

When I was 11 or 12 I hated my eyebrows. I actually CUT them, yes with a pair of scissors. My mom freaked out and was like "WHAT DID YOU DO?!" Let's just say now she takes me to get my eyebrows threaded…

Of course I have overplucked my eyebrows.
It was when I started plucking. I visited an expert who left me with great look and I tried to maintain it myself. Unfortunately I got a little carried away and ended up having veeeery thin and short eyebrows.

I, too, over plucked; now I have to "fill in" my right brow as I "moved too far over" when plucking and am now "lopsided". Oh, well. Thanks for the prizes!!

I’ve never over-plucked my eyebrows but that’s because I’m afraid to pluck them myself. I don’t know how it would look good on me so I just never did it.
